Health and Security

No vaccination is required when visiting the Northeast of Brazil, however vaccination against Yellow Fever is recommended to all national and foreign tourists travelling to the following Brazilian areas: Northern region (Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia, Roraima, Amapá, Pará, Tocantins) and Midwest (Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás and the Federal District), as well as all municipalities of the states of Maranhão and Minas Gerais.

Natal is the safest capital city in Brazil. With an 850,000 population and a vehicle fleet of only 120,000 cars, the city enjoys a calm way of life, while offering all services of a vibrant touristic hub. Personal security is not a problem and it is generally safe to walk through the touristic part of the city if sensible precautions are taken. Property crime is at a similar low level.
